3. Networking Lounge –
Network with IT Experts – Topic: Building and Operating a Cloud that Works for your Business
Participants from BMC, Cisco, and Citrix
In the Networking Lounge there was opportunity to raise question directly with industry players regarding issues like the organizational and financial challenges of cloud as well as building and operating a cloud that works for business model. The overall view of the various vendors was that a good cloud implementation requires both an infrastructure transformation (tools) and a “services” transformation (people and processes). Also, the service transformation part is the hardest of all during cloud implementation. Since the ownership of the “service” including network, storage, apps, content, etc. needs to change, the organizations would need to partner with a vendor who has a set of cloud based best-practices. For many cloud vendors the main challenge is not in provisioning services but provisioning a true-service to the network. This is the reason why the large data center vendors like Cisco and Juniper cannot be ignored in the overall cloud infrastructure planning and implementation.

Through the event, was able to get a comprehensive Cloud Computing document titled “View Point – Focus on: Cloud Computing” published jointly by BMC Software, Fujitsu, Red Hat, Citrix Systems, Inc., Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), Cisco Systems, NetApp, Inc., Fujitsu, GreenPages Technology Solutions, and Amazon Web Services.
